OK, we just finished the 26th and final episode of Wolf's Rain. What the hell kind of an ending was that?! It sure made it look like it wasn't *really* over, and there was even a preview of "next time". Can anyone explain? Are there more episodes?

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Sat, April 23, 2005 - 11:50 PMAs far as I understood it...its basically a never ending crusade or story for them.

Re: What the hell kind of an ending was that?!
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 7:00 AMQuick, go watch Evangelion next! You'll be two-for-two! -

Re: What the hell kind of an ending was that?!
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 10:31 AMThe ending mean the quest for paradise is only drive alone and whole pack are sprate living out how what to live. If you watch frist espiode to last espiode will make more sense. Paradise was never real was thought of find paradise is his only drive. -

Re: What the hell kind of an ending was that?!
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 11:08 AM...I...see...
Well, I did watch the first to the last episodes, all in the course of a week, but still...I can get the notion of the quest for Paradise being a never-ending one, and/or Paradise being only a myth. And I've seen plenty of movies and series (both RL and anime) that used one or both devices. Still, I've never before seen a preview at the end of a movie or series, that implied that more actual content was to come.
Given that it really WAS the end of the content, am I alone in thinking that it was a really shoddy, anticlimactic ending? -

Re: What the hell kind of an ending was that?!
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 12:43 PMNo it was somewhat anticlimatic. It ended almost the same as Transformers Beast Machines. When Cybertron became organic again. WTF indeed.

Mon, April 25, 2005 - 6:21 AMYeah, but they kept revisiting the 'End of Evangelion'. What are there? three versions of it now?

Re: What the hell kind of an ending was that?!
Fri, September 7, 2007 - 4:50 PMROFL! I think Wolf's Rain's end was possibly worse than NGE's ending only because Wolf's Rain continued to have a solid story and animation throughout, wheras by the time you got to the end of NGE everything was such crap that you weren't overly surprised by the crayon scribbles. ;)

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 7:13 PMThere are 4 OVAs after the ending which 'continue' the story. Sometimes I think the ending was better before the OVAs, but it's more of a thing you must see to decide. Bring the tissues.

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Mon, May 23, 2005 - 10:06 PMI ditto that sentiment....I actually held off watching the final 4 episodes for a long time because I just knew it was going to end *badly* ::sigh::

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 12:25 AMYeah, I'm finding there's a lot of anime with "unsatisfactory" endings (like Hellsing, which my best friend and I just finished watching)....personally, I think it's just so that there can be OVA's or to leave it open for additional seasons....*shrug* -

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Sun, May 22, 2005 - 7:43 PMHellsing doesn't count as it's an unfinished anime. Though, according to one of the anime buffs I know they're planning on starting it back up...!
I wonder what the odds are of it, well, being good at all compared to the first half but getting the same voice actors, etc... -

Hellsing
Mon, May 23, 2005 - 10:33 PMMore Hellsing anime on the way?
www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php
"A new Hellsing OVA series is being produced in cooperation with Geneon Entertainment, according to an annoucement at the MipTV tradeshow in France. The number of episodes is unknown, but they will be 35 minutes long and based on the Hellsing manga series."
I recall reading some time ago that that Kohta Hirano wasn't going to allow any more anime until he was finished with the manga but this news of an OVA coming out seems to discredit that rumour.

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 8:01 PMActually, there's 30 episodes in the series. I'm used to anime ending at the 26 episode mark so was confused when it turned out there were more episodes. -

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 10:16 AMAre they all on DVD yet? It was one of my favorite series on Adult Swim but I wasn't able to watch very many of the episodes. -

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 10:28 AMI believe they're all out - with volume 7 due out 5/24. -

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 1:24 PMThe lenth of anime depends on how long the series was. Seasons usually last 26 episodes. I'm personally feinding for more Fruits Basket having had the same experience.

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 10:38 AMYes, volume 7 comes out on May 24...I wish it would hurry up so I would stop getting emails about it....

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Mon, May 2, 2005 - 1:11 AMYeah, 26episodes seems to be one season, a trimester in japan or something.
I've seen animes with 25 and 22 eps aswell, bizarre, but as long as they manage the story I'm fine.

Re: Wolf's Rain--WTF?!
Wed, June 8, 2005 - 1:45 AMWe finally watched the LAST last three episodes of Wolf's Rain. We laughed, we cried, we kissed two hours of our lives good-bye. Well, the last one is true. Who directed this thing--Ingmar Bergman on acid?
<SPOILER ALERT>
Did it seem to anyone else who's seen these last three episodes that the producers just said "fuck it--let's kill 'em all off"? I mean, *everyone*?! And in such lame ways. The armored car falls a hundred feet over a cliff and Cher still looks swanky and has time to deliver her good-byes before expiring?! Quint, who's been killing wolves for decades, is brought along and nursed back to health for some altruistic purpose, AND LEFT ARMED? Would any uber-wolf be so stupid as to allow such a thing? I figured that the big-eyed kid was going to get it, but honestly--was he truly so stupid as to not take "no" for an answer when he went to check on Quint, then try to take on the big, bad, demigod? Pffffff...
And the capper--after they're all dead, and Cheza turns into seeds, and the rain is falling and the seeds seem to instantly sprout. Then--what?--paridise is created in like 5 minutes? Why couldn't the guys have hung around for a little longer? BECAUSE THE PRODUCERS WANTED YOU TO SUFFER.
<end of rant>
