What are thoughts on Ani-MOnday on Scifi channel?

I like they have Tokko, Noein, Macross-Plus, Ghost In Shell Stand Alone Complex Solid State, and Highlander: Search of Vegences.

It's really not that great. Most of the anime on Sci-Fi channel is heavily edited and I don't like some of the dubbing. Some of their programs are way too old and outdated or just aren't that interesting to me (I guess you could say I'm picky ...). I don't really consider Highlander an anime but that's just me. It would be better if they had more current anime, like stuff just coming out from Japan. Even better if they kept the original Japanese version and found a great translator for subtitles.

I agree about a lot of anime they have chosen. I have really enjoyed Noein but that's about it so far (they did play solid state society which was nice). They are now playing Virus Buster Serge... not what I would have chosen. I will say that even with the edits and the dubs and the older anime, it's still nice to see Anime on SciFi... the more anime, the better. Maybe the ani-Monday lineup will generate some new fans in the US from the sciFi viewer base that normally wouldn't watch Anime? Noein, I believe, has a chance to win some people over (and Serge and Tokko, I guess, based on how interested the viewer is in the fan service).

I agree with some your points but Street Fighter V and Macross Plus was saw unedited on Encore Action. They are least showing anime to audience least more accepted to it. They don't do back talking of anime like Adult Swim.

The problem with cartoon network there not showing quality anime as much as used to. Like when could least watch majority of series in month, now takes months just do get through series. Adult Swim should show new anime during weekdays instead repeats of anime shown so, repeat after repeat.

I agree with you about Cartoon Network taking too long to get through anime series. But, on the flip side, the current availability of anime on tv is what got me more into anime than before.

I used to just watch the more popular anime films and occasionally catch a series on Anime OnDemand, but it was starting to watch some really good series like Avatar, Naruto and Bleach that sent me to the internet and all its glories. I like having all the anime on tv, because then I can watch some episodes easily, and if I think the station is taking too long (i.e. only playing one new ep a week) then I can go download it instead.

I haven't watched much of Ani-Monday, but if it exposes new people to anime, I'm all for it.

btw, I've heard that Death Note is going to be shown on Adult Swim starting in a month or so.

Hey, I agree too about CN taking too long. I do think it is good to bring back shows like Cowboy Bebop to introduce new viewers, etc. I saw that Natasha was discussing Blood+ in another thread. In relation to taking too long... this anime builds relatively slowly so the delays getting to the next episode is frustration (although I enjoy the show). I assume though that this is the way that it airs originally in Japan (weekly)? Anyway, I for more Anime at any time :) CN has shown some great anime including Bebop, Trigun, Eureka 7, Blood+, DeathNote!, Bleach, Paranoia Agent, etc. Naruto, of course. Even with the edits, etc. I'm very happy in general with CN's mix. The only real complaint I have is that they mix in a lot of non-Anime stuff. If I'm up at 4 in the morning I want Anime, not Ed, Edd and Eddy :)

I actually love the fact they played Macross Plus and Ninja Scroll (movie). I was very excited to see that on late at night. :)

I think Tokko is pretty good actually. I would love to see Berserk on Ani-Monday. :) The Music of Susumu Hirasawa is amazing.

All in all... I believe they are doing a pretty good job.
