Ah, an anime revered by many despised by others. I was just wondering, what are your all's thoughts on the live action film that is supposed to come out next year?

Re: live action dragonball...?
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 6:20 PMWell, it certainly wouldn't be the first. There was a really bad live action Street Fighter movie made a number of years ago-- not the Hollywood one, the Hong Kong one in which a guy who mysteriously resembled Son Goku made a cameo near the end.
There are a number of anime and game titles for which they've been threatening to make live action versions for years. Sometimes, one will actually see the light of day. I will admit that it upset me that they made an intentionally bad version of Dead or Alive, my all-time favorite video game but for the most part I just try to ignore it if I don't think I'm going to like it.
Speaking of, any of youse guys seen Speed Racer? And what did you think?

Re: live action dragonball...?
Sun, May 18, 2008 - 1:18 AMI've devoted many sleepless nights to this unsettling topic and come to the fallowing conclusions:
1) If it is dragonball (not Z) then it will blow.
2) If it is Z, then the plot will only vaguely resemble the DBZ I know and love, making it next to pointless in my eyes
3) No matter what it will be PG or PG 13, making it unwatchable -

Hmmmm... Let's see, Miley Cyrus as ChiChi and Lindsey
Lohan as Bulma. So wrong.

Re: live action dragonball...?
Tue, May 20, 2008 - 5:10 PMNow there is a movie that doesn't need to be made!
Dragonball and all series that spun off of it were crappy. They took WAY too long to resolve fights and the plot was like something an 8 year old came up with. Granted that show was geared toward 8 year olds, so I guess you pander to your audience. About the only thing I can say is that the movie should be if anything BETTER than the series because they can't make a fight scene take 20 hours of screen time in a two hour movie.

For years, its continued to look stupid. I anticipate epic fail.
