Has anyone been watching "Claymore"?
I have been watching a lot of 'brainy' anime lately or anime low on action factor so this has been a fun romp for me. Though the gushing blood fountains are a little tired as is the whole 'narration of my life history and evil deeds before I kill you' deal with the enemies, but hey. ;) Being a woman myself I tend to lean toward anime with strong and/or leading female characters, so that's one point for Claymore. The animation isn't bad, and the evolution of Clare has been interesting enough, though not as solid as it could be.
Thoughts? Opinions?

Re: Claymore
Thu, November 1, 2007 - 10:26 PMI started watching it after I finished Death Note, and am already on episode 18. I really enjoy it, but yeah, a little too much limb-chopping-off.
I also really like having the strong female characters. I can't stand the sterotypical anime girl. I am watching Fushigi Yugi right now too, but it is slow going because I just HATE the stupid protagonist AND her stupid friend. Though Claymore is a vast improvement, I have noticed how they have dehumanized the strong women quite a lot. Like they are saying that women who are strong aren't really women, or even human. So many of the non-stupid-girl women in anime are like that. For example, Saya in Blood+ is part vampire, San in Princess Mononoke, while fully human, is sorta a "wolf-girl," and the Claymores are only half-human. -

Wed, November 21, 2007 - 10:53 PMJust finished claymore. Really enjoyed it, though if a second season does not get done, then the ending sucked. (It was a good season finale, but not conclusive enough for a series finale. i know the manga goes farther, though.)
